This piece of American history was nearly lost forever. As a last ditch effort to preserve and present this threadbare skeleton of old glory, this customer came to Alley Gallery after having been to other framers and conservators that wouldn’t touch it for less than a fortune. We were able to figure out an archival way to keep it from further deterioration and show it off in a way that didn’t break the bank.
The thirty-four star flag was in use during the first half of the civil war 1861-1863. Kansas was the last star represented.
